About Us

Who we are & What we do

Who We Are

Graduate Student Government (GSG) is the official voice of Clemson’s more than 5,000 graduate students across all colleges and campuses. We bring together representatives from departments and satellite councils to identify needs, solve problems, and celebrate grad student achievements.

GSG serves as a bridge between students and the University. We advocate for policies that improve academic success and well-being, connect students with resources and funding, and create opportunities to learn, lead, and belong—on Main Campus, in Greenville and Charleston, at REC, and online.

Through collaborative leadership and transparent decision-making, we help shape the graduate experience at Clemson—supporting research, professional growth, and a strong, inclusive community.

Our Mission

  • Advocate for graduate student needs with University leadership and external partners.
  • Strengthen representation through the Senate and Satellite Councils so all campuses—on-site and online—are heard.
  • Promote academic and professional development through initiatives, policy, and programs.
  • Build an inclusive, equitable community that supports well-being and engagement.
  • Steward student-generated resources responsibly to support organizations, travel grants, and events.

Our Structure

GSG operates as a three-branch government—Executive, Legislative (Senate), and Judicial—working with standing committees and campus councils to represent graduate students across Main, Greenville, Charleston, and REC.

Executive Branch

Led by the President and Vice President, the Executive administers programs, appoints directors, and represents graduate students across the University.
